In general we counsel not debunking your opponent’s inaccuracies because you’re likely to get trapped in their frame and risk repeating or even legitimizing their argument -thereby strengthening it. This recent research has some more insight, including that correcting in the moment can help, but concludes ” No amount of rebuttal can make up for exposure to misinformation”.
